About The North Carolina Arboretum Society

The North Carolina Arboretum Society is a nonprofit (501c-3) which raises private funds to support the Arboretum’s mission and supplement the operational budget provided by the State of North Carolina.

By contributing donations to The North Carolina Arboretum Society, you can help enhance our programming and support our mission to cultivate connections between people and plants through education, conservation, research, garden demonstration and economic development.

The North Carolina Arboretum Society

Society members are involved in all aspects of the Arboretum's programs from contributing funds, to serving in leadership positions on the Board of Directors, to volunteering their services. Some members attend special events or just visit the gardens occasionally seeking a special place that offers serenity. All levels of involvement are welcomed.

How Your Membership Benefits The Arboretum

Private donations made to The North Carolina Arboretum Society support and enhance horticultural and educational programming not covered by state funding of general operations.

Contributions to the Society support:

Educational lectures and workshops
Regional plant shows
Training for staff
Volunteer recognition and training
Plant Professional Landscape Garden
Garden enhancements

Important Tax Information

Your membership contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. See the explanation below regarding further tax related information for the Laurel and Holly membership levels.

Arboretum Appreciation Plant Information: Every year, our Horticulture staff selects an Arboretum Appreciation Plant to give to our Laurel and Holly members. $235 of a Laurel level membership is tax deductible. $490 of a Holly level membership is tax deductible. If you prefer for your donation to be completely tax deductible, you can simply decline the Appreciation Plant.
