Spring break adventure camps at the Arboretum provide an ideal opportunity for children to venture outside and enjoy the mountains. Discovery and adventure abound in a week of fun and learning amidst 434 acres of protected forestland. Participants will experience a wide range of activities, from crafts and games to hikes and live animal demonstrations. They will encounter beautiful blooming wildflowers and wildlife returning for the spring.
The Arboretum began its spring break camps in 2006, and the program grew 20 percent last year. With one adult for every ten youth, camp provides an intimate setting that will enhance children’s appreciation for nature and the environment. Special emphasis is placed on environmental education, conservation, awareness and stewardship. Camp counselors are college educated in the field of natural sciences and are trained in CPR and first aid. In addition, Arboretum property is staffed with public safety officers at all times.
Before care and/or after care are available for camp attendees for an additional fee each. Participants may arrive as early as 8 a.m. and stay until 5:30 p.m. (weekly rate of $35 members/ $39 general public).
