Nature Photography Exhibit by Cynthia
Walker
Opens at Arboretum
Opening Wednesday, April 23 and continuing through Tuesday, October 14, 2008, the Arboretum will display nature photography by Cynthia Walker in the Education Center gallery. Titled “Silent Beauty: A View of the Changing Seasons,” the exhibit focuses on colorful, detailed images of flowers and insects while revealing the mystery and beauty of nature.
A resident of Black Mountain, N.C., Walker finds the mountains a constant source of inspiration, and they harbor much of the subject matter for her work. She devotes special attention to exposing the clarity that exists within the complexity of nature’s patterns and light. Semi-abstract in style, her works portray the hidden simplicity in everyday things.
In addition to traditional photography, she also creates Polaroid image and emulsion transfers and mixed media collage. All photos in the collection are taken with high quality Canon SLR cameras using professional Canon lenses, and all prints are created "in-house" on archival quality fine art papers with gallery quality printers using archival pigment inks.
Original photography will be available for purchase.
