NC Arboretum Welcomes Spring
with “Islands of Orchids”

The WNC Orchid Society will host its annual show and sale at The North Carolina Arboretum on Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The popular juried plant show, themed “Islands of Orchids” this year, will feature displays of hundreds of orchids as well as programs on both days. Fifteen regional orchid vendors from North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and expert orchid growers will provide orchid care demonstrations and presentations in the Arboretum’s Education Center.

Saturday, March 29
11 a.m. Ikebana and Orchids presented by Terri Todd
12 p.m. Phragmipedium Culture presented by H.P. Norton, Orchidview Nursery
1 p.m. Growing Orchids Under Lights presented by Fifth Season Growing Systems

Sunday, March 30
11 a.m. Repotting Your Orchids presented by Cynthia Giloolly
12 p.m. Paphiopedilum Hybrids presented by Hadley Cash
1 p.m. Walk Around the Show Hall and Tell presented by Tom Nasser of Carolina Orchids

Tropical greenery to emphasize the theme for the weekend will be provided by B.B. Barns.

In addition to “Islands of Orchids,” other NC Arboretum events and activities this weekend are offered free unless noted:

· “Orchids and Iris in the Garden” ~ Silk Painting Exhibit
