MEDIA RELEASE: Bent Creek Institute Hires New President

The Bent Creek Institute (BCI) is an economic development organization championing, coordinating and commercializing cutting edge research activities that investigate bioactivity in Appalachian medicinal herbs for efficacy in human health. The work done at the Bent Creek Institute leads to the development of an economic cluster around natural biotechnology (the utilization of biotechnology tools to the study of natural products).

Located on the campus of The North Carolina Arboretum, BCI works with regional, statewide, national and international partners to enhance the natural biotechnology and integrative medicine industries in North Carolina. Through its partnership with the Bent Creek Laboratories at The North Carolina Arboretum, home to North America’s only Medicinal Germplasm Repository, BCI works to commercialize natural products based intellectual property.
