The North Carolina Arboretum offers scouting advancement programming for Boy and Girl Scouts of all ages and ranks. Expert environmental and outdoor educators are certified merit badge counselors and make it a priority for each scout to achieve his or her personal best in accomplishing requirements while utilizing the Arboretum’s 434-acre campus and hiking trails.

Current offerings are featured below. Programs can be offered by request for groups of ten or more scouts.

  • Girl Scouts: Animal Habitats for Juniors, Bugs and Senses for Brownies , Trees for Cadettes, Geocacher and Hiker, and the Arboretum’s own Citizen Science Program!
  • Boy Scouts: Tigers in the Woods, Fur, Feathers and Ferns, Into to Woods, Environmental Science Merit Badge, Soil and Water Merit Badge, Fish and Wildlife Merit Badge, Nature Merit Badge.
