Western North Carolina in Watercolor by
James Scott Morrison
James Scott Morrison brings western North Carolina to life in his fine art watercolor paintings of landscapes, the body at work or play and historical and cultural sites.
Landscapes paintings show the diversity of the mountains and valleys through flat land and preserved forests to streams and watersheds traveling through rural and urban scenes. People in the paintings are depicted at work and play and history is shared through artistically rendered landmarks and locations of specific events. Facets of regional culture are captured at the stroke of the brush in the hands of James Scott Morrison.
After a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, Morrison began a three decade long career with McDonnell Douglas Corporation. His life as a full time water colorist has resulted in major commissioned works by the Charlotte Uptown Economic Development Board, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Attach/Scout Center for Excellence in Alabama and the 2011 Apache Helicopter Air Crew. A signature member of the National Watercolor Society and recipient of numerous awards in the U. S. and internationally, James Scott Morrison’s work is held in private collections in the U. S., Canada, Spain, Singapore and Australia.
