Seventh Annual Bamboo Festival
July 13 & 14, 2013
The American Bamboo Society’s Southeastern Chapter will host its seventh annual Bamboo Festival on Saturday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will learn about the artistic value and functionality of this remarkable grass in a weekend of crafting workshops, art installations, lectures, demonstrations, product vendors and plant sales.
Lecture presenters range in occupation from nursery owners, county horticulture agents, international professors and bamboo farmers. Regional vendors specializing in bamboo plants and related products will be on site both days.

Bamboo in Containers by Richard Argo of Argo Bamboo Farm, Douglasville, Georgia
So You Want to Farm Bamboo by Daphne Lewis of Bamboo Farming USA, Perry, Georgia
Bamboo 101 by Mike Hotchkiss of Georgia Bamboo, Perry, Georgia
Sumi-style Bamboo Ink Painting, a hands-on workshop by Giana Eden of Jesup, Georgia
Bamboo Identification by Mike Hotchkiss
Bamboo Lashing and Tool Making, a hands-on workshop by Giana Eden
An auction featuring bamboo plants, crafts and products will also take place on Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the Southeast Chapter of the American Bamboo Society and assist with festival expenses. A Bamboo Q&A panel discussion will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m.
