The North Carolina Arboretum offers scouting advancement programming for Boy and Girl Scouts of all ages and ranks. Expert environmental and outdoor educators are certified merit badge counselors and make it a priority for each scout to achieve his or her personal best in accomplishing requirements while utilizing the Arboretum’s 434-acre campus and hiking trails.

Current offerings are featured below. Programs can be offered by request for groups of ten or more scouts. Registration closes for all Scout programs on the Wednesday before the program date.

  • Girl Scouts: Trees for Cadettes, Senses for Brownies, Geocacher and Hiker, Animal Habitats for Juniors, the Arboretum’s own Citizen Science Badge (may have correlation to GSUSA Citizen Science Journey), and Bugs for Brownies.
  • Boy Scouts: Into the Woods for Webelos, Environmental Science Merit Badge (Winter Session and Spring Session), Indian Lore Merit Badge, and Weather Merit Badge.
