Botanical Explorations – Event Full
Please join us for The North Carolina Arboretum Society’s Annual Membership Meeting. Executive Director George Briggs will review the Arboretum’s latest projects and programs. Blue Ridge Naturalist Jenny S. Wilker, Ph.D., will talk about the botanical explorations of William Bartram and André Michaux through the Carolinas and her ongoing plant catalog project at the Arboretum.
- The Savory Thyme Cafe will be open for dinner from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.
- Light refreshments and snacks will be offered starting at 6:00 p.m.
- Membership Meeting program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
About the Speaker
Jenny S. Wilker, Ph.D., Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, has worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, art museums at Middlebury and Oberlin Colleges and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Since moving to Western North Carolina in 2008, Jenny has pursued her lifelong interest in natural history and has recently attained her Blue Ridge Naturalist certification at The North Carolina Arboretum. She has taught two courses on the early naturalist/explorers of the South at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNC Asheville.
