The annual exhibition features award-winning roses of every color and size. Experts will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the selection, care, and history of roses. Educational programs will be offered throughout the weekend.
Saturday, May 26
1:00 p.m. – Roses in Your World and Around the World presented by Lynn Hunt
Lynn is a Consulting Rosarian Emeritus and Certified Horticultural Judge for the American Rose Society. Lynn is an award winning writer whose articles can be seen in various publications such as Fine Gardening, The Christian Science Monitor and Better Homes & Gardens. Lynn is a Permanent Juror for the Biltmore International Rose Trials.
2:00 p.m. – Growing Sustainable Roses presented by Laurie Lewis
Laurie is a garden writer, photographer and Consulting Rosarian. She cultivates roses without the use of pesticides and fungicides in a pollinator-friendly garden. Her website, HedgerowRose.com, is a place to find information on types of roses and rose culture. Laurie is a Permanent Juror for the Biltmore International Rose Trials.
Sunday, May 27
1:00 p.m. – Growing Roses for Beginners presented by Jim Tucker
Jim is a Consulting Rosarian and Buncombe County Master Gardener. As a Master Gardener, Jim worked the phones answering various horticultural questions from the public for a number of years. Jim grows a variety of roses that are on their own roots selecting only those that show exceptional disease resistance.
2:00 p.m. – Roses for the Garden presented by Judy Deutsch
Judy is a Consulting Rosarian, Buncombe County Master Gardener and past president of the Asheville-Blue Ridge Rose Society. She has been growing roses in the Asheville area for more than ten years. Judy is working with other Master Gardeners to create a Teaching Rose Garden at the Buncombe County Cooperative Extension. She is a Permanent Juror for the Biltmore International Rose Trials.
