This month, The North Carolina Arboretum is celebrating monarchs in a whole new way! We’re offering families the chance to meet an Arboretum educator and view real monarch butterfly caterpillars as they munch on milkweed to prepare for their epic migration to Mexico. This informative drop-in education program runs from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. each Saturday in September, and will be hosted at our outdoor “Discovery Station,” located on the garden level outside the Baker Exhibit Center.
This special program provides a way for one family or individual at a time to learn more about these amazing creatures. Kids will find out how they can join ecoEXPLORE and help scientist study monarchs and other species while they earn badges and prizes.
