On display May 28 – September 5, 2016 inside the Baker Exhibit Center, The Magic of Western North Carolina is produced in watercolor by artist James Scott Morrison. As a self-taught realist, Morrison produces watercolors involving a wide range of subject matter. His show will feature his current group of watercolors illustrating the beauty of the landscape, the fascinating people at work and at play, and the unique heritage of Western North Carolina. He is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and the Pennsylvania Water Color Society. During the course of the exhibit, Morrison will conduct several demonstrations of his watercolor technique in the Baker Exhibition Gallery.
I have no political, social or environmental message with any of my paintings. I paint what I like and I hope others enjoy.”
About the Artist
After a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, Morrison began a three-decade long career with McDonnell Douglas Corporation. His life as a full time water colorist has resulted in major commissioned works by the Charlotte Uptown Economic Development Board, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Attach/Scout Center for Excellence in Alabama and the 2011 Apache Helicopter Air Crew. A signature member of the National Watercolor Society and recipient of numerous awards in the U. S. and internationally, James Scott Morrison’s work is held in private collections in the U. S., Canada, Spain, Singapore and Australia.
