ONSITE | Sunday, February 25, 1 – 5 p.m.

Ethnobiologist Marc Williams teaches this afternoon intensive that starts in the classroom and closes with a plant walk around the Arboretum gardens and forest to mark the close of nature’s most challenging botanizing season. Learn to distinguish more subtle clues in the absence of flowers, fruits and leaves to identify woody plants. That said, by the end of February some plants may already be coming up and showing signs of early spring. We will take note of these early bloomers especially while engaging in a dialogue about off-season woody plant characteristics, ethnobotanical applications and various resources available for further study.
