ONSITE | Six Sessions: Tuesdays & Thursdays, March 19 – April 4, 1 – 3 p.m.

Plants have many amazing abilities: they make their own food, pull water hundreds of feet in the air against gravity, and trick insects and other animals into helping them reproduce. They track the sun, recoil at a touch, and warn other plants of danger. In this class we will explore all these phenomena and more as we look at the basics of plant structure, function, evolution, classification, and ecology. This version of Botany Basics meets in person with Instructor Alexandra Holland at the Arboretum in six two-hour sessions that allow for botanizing walks, lab activities, and discussion questions. Participants in the in-person version of the class will have access to the pre-recorded lectures of the asynchronous version in case of a missed meeting.
