There’s an App for that! Smartphones are quickly becoming a valuable tool to aid in exploring the natural world. Take a free online introductory class for adults, hosted on Zoom, and gain an overview on how to use the iNaturalist app for documenting observations of the natural world. You’ll identify wildflowers, songbirds, trees and more, with the help of an online community of naturalists, including scientists. Then put your newfound knowledge to use in the upcoming City Nature Challenge, April 24-27!

Earn a North Carolina BioBlitz patch! Not just for kids, any adult in North Carolina can participate! Students in the Arboretum’s Blue Ridge Naturalist and Eco-Gardener Certificate of Merit programs can earn elective credit by completing the North Carolina BioBlitz Online Module, which includes self study, discussion forums and posting during the City Nature Challenge then go on to earn their North Carolina BioBlitz patch.
