Event Details

Date:

August 23

Time:

10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Location:

Arboretum Gardens

Join us as we commemorate the artistic legacy of modernist painter Will
Henry Stevens (1881 – 1949). Influenced by his continuous engagement with
the southern landscape, Stevens maintained a lifelong dedication to nature,
a theme that resonates throughout his abstract and representational works.
In homage to Stevens’ profound naturalist perspectives, we cordially invite
you to participate in an en plein air event at the NC Arboretum; where you
can immerse yourself in capturing the essence of the botanically diverse
environment. Landscape artists, Luke Allsbrook and Peggy Root will be
painting alongside attendees in the gardens and forest.

This en plein air celebration of Will Henry Stevens coincides with
exhibitions held at Blue Spiral 1, The Bascom Center for Visual Arts, and the
New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. Please see each of their websites for more exhibition information.

This event will be held from 10 am – 4 pm and is free with entry to the park.
