BLENDED | Five Sessions: FIELD – Saturday, April 6 & May 11, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.; ONLINE – Tuesdays, April 16, 23 & 30, 10 – 11 a.m.

This version of our popular Flora ID class, taught by Naturalist Scott Dean, blends two botanizing walks with three convenient online sessions to give participants practice identifying native mountain flora and learning the characteristics of plant families. While the focus is on spring wildflowers, participants can also pick up a wealth of information on the natural and cultural history of the native flora of the Blue Ridge. Includes a hike to begin and end the class. A fully field-based version of this class is also available in Spring, Summer and Fall each year. Also included is an asynchronous introduction for an overview of the non-technical keying system Scott uses for teaching how to recognize and accurately identify wildflowers.
