Welcome to The North Carolina Arboretum Society! As a member, you belong to a strong community connected to the Southern Appalachian region. Through your membership donation, you help support acres of cultivated gardens and seasonal landscape exhibits, miles of natural wooded trails, youth and adult educational programming, engaging exhibits and more. Thank you for helping us advance our mission of cultivating connections among people, plants and places.

Membership 101

  • In the coming weeks, you will receive your printed membership card(s) in the mail, which will give you free parking access, as well as discounts to Bent Creek Bistro and the Connections Gallery Gift Shop. (Please note: Some facilities and operations may be temporarily closed due to COVID-19; please click here for a full update.)
  • Your membership card will give you reciprocal privileges at more than 300 gardens and arboreta across the country through the American Horticultural Society. View participating list 
  • Your membership card will give you free access to the North Carolina Zoo. (Card must be presented at ticket booth for validation; please check Zoo website for reciprocal restrictions related to COVID-19.)

How to Get Involved

We invite you to join our community and become involved with our mission-focused programs to help you better experience the Arboretum.

  • Youth & Family Programs – From self-guided activities to camps to youth events and more, educate your child about science and the natural world. Membership discounts are available for program registrations. 
  • Adult Education Programs – Grow your mind and appreciation for nature by taking an array of classes taught by the region’s leading experts. Membership discounts are available for class registrations. 
  • Upcoming Exhibits & Events – Participate in the Arboretum’s engaging indoor and outdoor exhibits focused on science, art, education and culture. Throughout the year, members are invited to attend special member-only events, as well as public programming inspired by the Arboretum’s mission. Membership discounts apply for select event registrations.
